Why The Southeast Deserves a Spotlight, too.

In Texas, Oklahoma, and out West, rodeo isn’t just a sport — it’s a headline. It’s on the evening news, it’s in glossy magazines, and it’s covered like the cultural heartbeat it truly is.
But here in the Southeast, where red dirt runs just as deep and cowgirls and cowboys rise before dawn the same way, our stories often stay in the shadows.

That’s why The Buckle Report was born.

As a Georgia-based photographer, journalist, and rodeo fan, I’ve seen firsthand how hard work and heart define this region’s competitors. From barrel racers in Perry to breakaway ropers in small-town arenas, the talent here is no less fierce — it’s just less seen.

And that’s about to change.

The mission of The Buckle Report is simple: to bridge that gap — to give the Southeastern rodeo scene the coverage, respect, and storytelling it deserves.
We’re here to highlight the athletes who balance 9-to-5 jobs and late-night arena lights, the families who haul every weekend, and the communities that keep rodeo alive east of the Mississippi.

This isn’t about chasing clicks or big-city recognition — it’s about celebrating the grit and gold of the South’s rodeo culture. It’s about reminding the world that cowboys and cowgirls don’t just live out West — they live right here, under Georgia skies, riding for the same dreams.

Because while Texas might have the spotlight, the Southeast has the heart, and The Buckle Report is here to tell every story that’s been waiting to be heard.

Same arena, next run.
Thanks for reading The Buckle Report. We’ll keep showing up, telling the stories that matter, and covering Western sports in the Southeastern region the way they deserve to be covered.

Until then — keep your word, show up ready, and may you always ride good horses.
