A Quick Conversation with Hunter Marie
Last weekend, we had the chance to have a quick conversation with Western Content Creator and Cutting Horse Rider, Hunter Marie.

Can you tell us a little bit about who you are, where you are from and how long you’ve been riding horses?
My name is Hunter Marie and I live in Nashville, Indiana. Yes, you heard that right. There is a Nashville, Indiana, not Tennessee. I have lived in Indiana my entire life and I have been riding horses since I was an embryo. So quite some time now. My name is Hunter for Hunter Under Saddle because my mom was pregnant with me and won the Congress in the Hunter Under Saddle whenI was just in her belly. So I was going to be named Hunter, whether I was a boy or I was a girl. And I am born and bred into this industry.
Do you feel like being from Indiana made your path into cutting/western industry look a little different than most?
It's hard because I have to travel a lot. Like right now I'm in Alabama. It was only about a six hour trip. And for me, six hours is like an hour. Like that is a breeze because a lot of times I'm traveling 10 to 14 hours one way on the weekends. So This is such a yes and no answer because I feel like when it comes to the cowboy way of life It doesn't matter where you live. It doesn't matter what state what country wherever you're from there are horses everywhere and the cowboy way of life is Doesn't mean that you have to be from Texas. It's about how you treat people it's about you know our love for these animals and I grew up in Indiana and I have ridden horses my entire life and I actually live in a national park in Nashville, Indiana. And so there are, it's a huge horse community and we trail ride. So, um, That is a double-edged sword for me because I would love to live in Texas because I would love to be able to go to a different cutting every hour. There's literally cuttings all over the place where for me, living in Indiana is a little bit harder because I have to travel more, but there's horses everywhere.
Do you have to travel outside of Indiana a lot to show?
I'm somewhere new every single weekend. I also am just like not a homebody at all. So I love living life on the road. We're in Alabama today. I'll travel back to Indiana. I'll work. And then next week will be in Eaton, Ohio. And then the following week I will be in Strunk, Kentucky. And then I think Lebanon, Tennessee after that. And then possibly back to Fort Worth at the end of the month. So that's just May. This is why I've gone through two turbos and two trucks in what, four months? I have a brand new truck right now though, so I should be good.
What advice would you give to western brands and athletes that live somewhere other than the West where it may be a little more difficult to put yourself out there?
You can be anywhere and you know, as long as you are yourself and you are unique, people want to see that. So don't try to be something that you're not. Be yourself because the world needs who you are. So post yourself. If you want to get into doing some sponsorships and getting into the Western industry, just post. It doesn't matter where you live or anything like that. Just be yourself. Post on the internet because the whole world will see it. And sometimes that's good and sometimes that's bad.
